Taking care of your skin means trying different products to see which work best. When over the counter products don't seem enough, you may be considering trying out prescription products that can help improve the look of your skin.

Prescription products many times contain the same ingredients as the ones in over-the-counter products, except they are in stronger doses. You must consult a dermatologist or a qualified & trained aesthetician to learn more about what products may suit you best.

Retin-A® is one such prescription medication which has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat acne. This drug has also been shown to improve skin color and texture over a period of time. It helps with pigmentation problems, minimizes fine wrinkle lines and also acts as an exfoliant to remove dead skin cells.

Usage of Retin-A®  is not free of side-effects. You may experience redness of skin, tightening or peeling of skin and your skin may be more sensitive to the UV rays from the sun. This means that a heavy hand with an SPF 15 or higher sunscreen may be essential to protect your skin.

Remember, this is informational only and not meant as advice to go out and begin using this product. Be sure to consult a dermatologist or a skin care specialist like our very own Giuliana Crider to learn more about prescription.
